Privacy Policy

Theme Medic (“we”, “the app”) is a Shopify app and website that helps merchants find
leftover app code in their store theme and monitor store performance. This policy
explains what data we access, why, and how we handle it. We collect as little as
possible and never sell your data.
What we access
- Your store domain and basic shop info — to identify your account and authenticate the app.
- Your theme files (via Shopify’s
read_themes permission) — read-only. We scan theme code to detect app footprints and ghost code. We do not modify your theme.
- Your public storefront HTML — we load your storefront like any visitor to check which app scripts actually run, so we can tell active apps from dead code.
We do not access your customers, orders, products, or payment
information. Theme Medic requests no customer-data scopes.
What we store
- An authentication session token for your store (required to run the app).
- Compact scan summaries (which apps had leftover code, counts, sizes) so daily monitoring can detect new issues over time. We do not store full copies of your theme.
- Your monitoring settings — the alert email address you choose, if any.
- A count of scans, to enforce plan limits.
Third parties
- Google PageSpeed Insights — our free website scan tool sends the public store URL you enter to Google’s PageSpeed Insights API to measure load performance. See Google’s privacy policy.
- Resend — if you enable monitoring alerts, we use Resend to deliver alert emails to the address you provide.
- Shopify — billing and authentication are handled by Shopify.
We share data with these processors only as needed to provide the service.
Data retention & deletion
When you uninstall the app, your session is revoked and your stored data is
deleted. You can also request deletion at any time by emailing us. Scan summaries are
kept only while the app is installed.
